Core Principles for Accurate Matches

1

Image Quality is Paramount

Use clear, well-lit photos. Blurry, pixelated, or dark images significantly reduce search accuracy and are the primary cause of poor results.

Clear, high-quality image
Good: Clear & Well-Lit
Blurry, low-quality image
Bad: Blurry & Dark
2

Crop Correctly (Leave Space)

Do not crop the image tightly around the face. Our AI needs some surrounding context (hair, neck, background) to properly align and analyze facial features. Cropping too close is a common mistake that hurts accuracy.

Good: Space Around Face
Incorrectly cropped image, too tight
Bad: Cropped Too Tightly
3

Use Front-Facing Photos

While our engine can handle various angles, a direct, front-facing photo provides the most data points for the AI and yields the highest accuracy. Side profiles and sharp angles are less reliable.

Bad: Extreme Angle

Pro Tips for Maximum Accuracy

  • Use recent photos. Older pictures may not match current appearances due to aging or changes in hairstyle.
  • Avoid heavy filters and editing. Natural, unprocessed photos work best. AI can be confused by strong filters.
  • Ensure the face is unobstructed. Avoid photos with sunglasses, masks, hats, or heavy shadows that hide key facial features.
  • Isolate the subject. If searching a group photo, crop to include only the person you're searching for (while still leaving space, as per Tip #2).
  • Check the resolution. Images with a face that is at least 100x100 pixels are required. Higher resolutions (300x300 pixels or more) yield significantly better results.
